ARC Clean Technology joins 120 organizations in committing to triple global nuclear energy by 2050

Washington, DC, (Wednesday, December 6, 2023) – Joining more than 120 other signatories in the nuclear industry, ARC Clean Technology has committed to working towards at least tripling global nuclear capacity by 2050.

Initiated by the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation, World Nuclear Association, and IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency), the Net Zero Nuclear Industry Pledge calls for unprecedented collaboration between government and industry leaders to at least triple global nuclear capacity to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.

The pledge was launched in coordination with the Ministerial Declaration in which over twenty countries, including Canada and the USA, have committed to work together to reach the goal to triple nuclear energy capacity by 2050.

The two historic initiatives were launched during the World Climate Action Summit of the 28th Conference of the Parties to the U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28) which has been underway in Dubai, United Arab Emirates since November 30, 2023. COP28 brings together representatives from 200 governments with the aim to continue efforts to limit the global rise in temperatures to 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels.

“In a world where CO2-emitting fossil fuels dominate 85 percent of our energy landscape, the urgency to act has never been clearer.” says Don Wolf, Chair, CEO & Co-Founder of ARC Clean Technology. “With global energy demands set to triple by 2050, the world needs to embrace clean fuel alternatives that are carbon free. ARC Clean Technology, as the developer of an advanced small modular reactor to be first deployed in Canada, is committed to the industry pledge, and we call on other companies to join this declaration.”

About ARC Clean Technology
ARC Clean Technology (ARC) is a clean energy technology company developing the ARC-100, an advanced small modular reactor (aSMR) offering inherently safe, reliable, and economical carbon free power. Leveraging proven technology from the 30-year performance of its prototype, the ARC-100’s simple, modular design provides 100 megawatts of electricity and industrial heat that will be cost competitive with fossil fuels. Important applications include the decarbonization of heavy industry, the fueling of low-carbon hydrogen projects, and the creation of life-saving medical isotopes. The ARC-100 has been selected by New Brunswick Power for implementation on their Point Lepreau site with completion by the end of this decade. ARC Clean Technology has offices in Saint John, New Brunswick and Washington, DC.
